1970-1975 ND Standard Chartered Bank 10 dollar green house EF - AUNC

Product Overview

An early issue $10 banknote from The Chartered Bank (Hong Kong), serial number B7831462. The obverse features the bank's name in Chinese and English, the bank's twin-lion coat of arms, the headquarters building, the signatures of two executives, and the denomination "Ten Dollars." The reverse depicts Victoria Harbour's waterfront, an ocean liner, and the hills of Hong Kong Island. Printed by Thomas De La Rue (TDLR) in the UK using the intaglio engraving process, this note is popularly known among collectors as the "Green Wood" (or "Green Bundle") $10 note and is a classic example of Hong Kong currency featuring the iconic Victoria Harbour skyline.

Condition Report (Raw Note):

  • The overall design and text are clear and intact. There is a central crease and slight age-related yellowing due to circulation, but no tears, holes, or extensive repairs. The original dual signatures, serial number, and the intricate details of the engraved Victoria Harbour panorama remain well-preserved. The paper retains its original quality—neither brittle nor showing signs of mold.
  • This is a raw, ungraded single banknote (not encapsulated in a grading slab). It can be stored in a protective sleeve; however, for long-term collection, professional grading and encapsulation are recommended to preserve its condition and enhance its market value.
