This is a 1947 North Korean Central Bank 10-won original banknote, catalog number Pick#10Aa, with a watermark design. Printed by the Goznak Printing Plant in the Soviet Union, it is a high-denomination banknote from the first set of officially circulated banknotes after the founding of North Korea. It is extremely rare, with very few surviving examples, and possesses extremely high historical and collectible value.

Front Design Details

The overall design features a pink and light green two-tone embossed border. The left side displays the inscription "North Korean Central Bank Note" in traditional Chinese characters. The central image depicts a farmer carrying a hoe and a worker wielding a hammer, against a backdrop of factory buildings, symbolizing the working class. The left and right sides feature the Korean inscription "십원 (ten won)" and the Arabic numeral 10. A unique serial number, "ㄹㄷ 983190," is printed in red in the upper right corner. Below the image is the denomination in large, artistic Korean font, and the lower right corner bears a red Chinese seal in seal script reading "North Korean Central Bank." Next to the seal is a complete Chinese text indicating the bank's commitment to fulfill its obligations; this Chinese character element is unique to the 1947 edition. The entire note is decorated with a double-layered intaglio security pattern featuring Chinese fretwork and European scrollwork, with meticulous engraving.

Reverse Banknote Details

The top green floral design features the reversed Korean name of the country; the central scene depicts the landscape of Changbai Mountain's Tianchi Lake, a landmark natural landscape of North Korea; the Korean characters "십원" and the traditional Chinese characters "拾圆" are vertically arranged on the left and right sides respectively, with the number 10 symmetrically printed in each of the four corners; the bottom floral frame indicates the year of issue, 1947, surrounded by intricate floral security features; the banknote contains an internal pattern watermark, a core identification characteristic of the original authentic banknote, which is absent in later reprints.
