1 in stock

Product Description

This is a Khmer (Cambodian) ancient silver coin, dating from approximately 1600–1860, with a face value of 2 PE. It has been graded AU55 by the internationally renowned NGC. Commonly known as the Hamza Bird silver coin, it is a traditional Southeast Asian hand-struck silver coin with significant historical and collectible value.

Obverse (Hamza Bird Design)

The coin is hand-struck in an irregular shape. The obverse features the classic Hamza Bird design, with the bird's outline, wings, and feet clearly visible, a representative feature of Khmer ancient coins. The silver base retains its original patina, and the details of the three-dimensional design are highly preserved, with only slight wear on the high points of the relief. It meets the AU55 near-uncirculated grading standard.

Reverse Side

The reverse side lacks intricate designs, showcasing the original hand-hammered silver blank texture. Natural patterns and slight scratches from the ancient casting process are visible, indicating the original state of a traditionally struck coin, without any signs of later polishing or repair.

Version and Condition Description

This coin is a pre-colonial Cambodian currency, hand-hammered, resulting in subtle variations in shape for each piece. Its surviving quantity is far less than that of machine-struck coins. The mythical bird motif is a core collectible series of Khmer ancient coins, possessing significant historical research value.

NGC AU55 Representative Condition:Most of the original surface and main image details are well preserved, with only very slight circulation wear. There are no holes, cracks, or signs of chemical cleaning; the original patina is intact.

The coin comes with an NGC international standard anti-counterfeiting casing:

  • The front label fully displays the year, country, face value, theme, grading AU55, and unique serial number 8499767-004, and bears the NGC balance logo;
  • The back of the casing features an anti-counterfeiting QR code, allowing users to verify the coin's archive on the official website NGCcoin.com, ensuring globally recognized authentication credibility;
  • The sealed casing isolates the coin from air, preventing oxidation and tarnishing, and preserving its original condition for a long time.
