Product Description

This is a 1947 North Korean Central Bank note (One Won), the first legal tender of North Korea (Pick catalog number P8), a classic collectible printed by the Soviet Union before the founding of the Republic of Korea. The set includes three photos of the same batch with watermarks, serial numbers ЦБ-9456, ЦБ-9608, and ЦБ-579380, all in uniform and clean condition.

Front Details

The main image is a relief depicting a peasant (holding a hoe) and a worker (holding a hammer), representing a worker-peasant alliance. On the left are the vertical traditional Chinese characters for "North Korean Central Bank Note," with the number "1" and the denomination "壹" (One) marked in the four corners. The right side features the Korean denomination "일원 (One Won)," and below is a traditional Chinese exchange guarantee clause. The lower right corner bears a red official seal reading "Seal of the North Korean Central Bank." The background features a complex red and green engraving pattern with fine detail.

Reverse Details

The main image features a snow-capped landscape of Changbai Mountain (Baekdu Mountain). The top displays the Korean inscription "조선 (Korea)," while the left and right sides are engraved with the Korean inscription "일원" and the traditional Chinese characters for "壹圆" (One Yuan). The bottom indicates the year of issue, 1947. A green scrolling security border surrounds the entire sheet, and the design matches the engraving technique on the front.

Version Description

This is an original Soviet watermark banknote. The paper has a soft color, the printing lines are complete, and there are no tears, large holes, or severe mold. Only the edges show slight yellowing due to age. It is suitable for beginner collectors and for inclusion in sets of historical banknotes.
