1929 HSBC 1 dollar soldier head PMG 58

Product Description

This 1929 Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) One Dollar banknote, Pick #172b, serial number E383257, was printed by the British company BWC. The watermark features a samurai head. It is a classic Hong Kong One Dollar from the early Republic of China era.

The obverse features a portrait of Athena, the bank's name in both Chinese and English, and the general manager's signature. The reverse features a portrait of Liberty holding a torch, with the Chinese characters for "One Dollar" vertically arranged on either side. The lower right corner is engraved with the coat of arms of Hong Kong. The engraving is meticulous and richly detailed, and its surviving quantity is extremely limited.
