Product Description

This is a 1938 Soviet Union 3-ruble treasury note (Red Army soldier version, Pick #P-214a). This collection includes two circulating banknotes, classic Soviet military-themed banknotes from before World War II. They circulated throughout the Great Patriotic War and are a standard collectible representing the army theme within the complete 1938 banknote set.

Front Design Details

  • The top features the Russian inscription "ГОСУДАРСТВЕННЫЙ КАЗНАЧЕЙСКИЙ БИЛЕТ СССР (USSR State Treasury Bond)," with the Soviet hammer, sickle, and five-pointed star emblem engraved in the upper center.
  • The central inscription in cursive Russian reads "Три рубля (Three Rubles)," against a background of intricately interwoven wave patterns. The main color of the banknote is dark emerald green.
  • The main image on the left depicts two Soviet Red Army infantrymen wearing helmets, carrying backpacks, and holding rifles, symbolizing the Soviet Army's defense capabilities. This is a highly representative military propaganda design from the 1930s Soviet Union.
  • The year of issue is printed within an oval frame at the bottom. 1938. A Russian legal circulation instruction is attached below, mandating the acceptance of this note by all government agencies, businesses, and enterprises throughout the Soviet Union.

  • A large number "3" is printed within a three-dimensional decorative border in the center, with the Russian inscription "ТРИ РУБЛЯ" below.
  • The denomination is symmetrically printed on the left and right sides in the languages ​​of the various Soviet republics (Ukrainian, Belarusian, Georgian, Central Asian Turkic languages, etc.), fully reflecting the multi-ethnic federal system of the Soviet Union.
  • Full-page double-engraved color security pattern with interwoven green, red, and blue meshes, and small "3" symbols symmetrically arranged in the four corners. The border features intricate engraving layers, showcasing exquisite intaglio printing technology.

Condition Description

Both banknotes are in their original, circulated condition. The paper shows natural creases and slight yellowing at the edges, but no tears, perforations, large-area repairs, or severe mold. The national emblem, portraits of Red Army soldiers, and the engraved lines of the various ethnic languages ​​are complete and clear. The red serial numbers are richly in ink and sharp. They have not undergone any cleaning, ironing, or other artificial restoration. The original signs of circulation are fully preserved, making them suitable for a complete set of Soviet banknotes.
