This 1936 Hong Kong Government George VI Purple Dollar banknote, Pick #312, serial number U451626, was printed by the British BWC Bradbury Wilkinson Printing House. The obverse features a portrait of a young George VI, with the words "Hong Kong Government" and the Chinese characters for "One Dollar" in both traditional Chinese characters on the reverse, along with the signature of Financial Secretary S. Caine. The reverse is predominantly purplish-red, with a full-page radiating, high-precision engraved security scroll pattern, and the inscription "One Dollar" in the center. It is a classic pre-WWII British Crown Hong Kong Dollar banknote, and mint condition examples are extremely rare.
